RHESUS AID FOUNDATION

Rhesus Aid Foundation is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) founded in the year 2023 by Dr. Opeoluwa Oloyede (Hon.) MD. Omek Properties and Investment Limited and other Trustees with the aim to create a solid awareness about the importance of Rhesus factor in Nigeria. Rhesus Factor is an inherited protein that can be found on the surface of the Red Blood Cell, an individual can be classified as Rhesus-positive if their (Red Blood Cell) express the Rhesus D antigen meanwhile, individuals without the Rh D antigen are classified as Rh-negative which is our area of concern at Rhesus Aid Foundation.

We are not limited to Rh factor awareness alone; we are also advocating for rhesus incompatibility, a situation in which a mother-to-be and father-to-be are not both positive or negative for Rh factor which can make the mother to become sensitized and produce antibodies that can attack the Red Blood Cell of the fetus whenever
their blood mix together, which can leads to life-threatening conditions, such as hemolytic anemia, Miscarriage, Brain damage, Ear loss, and Stillbirth. Therefore, one of our major objectives is to assist less privileged pregnant women that are Rhesus negative by making provision for Anti-D immunoglobulin,  aprophylaxis injection that will prevent rhesus incompatibility during pregnancy. This treatment injection can only be given to mothers at their 28 weeks of pregnancy and within 72hours after delivery.

OUR MISSION

To create an unparallel awareness about the importance of rhesus factor to everyone, most especially among the pregnant women and young ladies. To also help them from being sensitized with the provision of Anti-D immunoglobulin (Prophylaxis) injection FOR FREE.

OUR VISION

To drastically reduce the incidence of rhesus incompatibility among the rhesus negative women to the barest minimum in Nigeria.
